About Us
MK Dance Theatre is a renowned youth dance company that was established in 2019 with the vision of providing a platform for young dancers to explore and showcase their talent. From its humble beginnings, the company has grown exponentially, leaving a significant mark on the dance community. ​
Under the artistic direction of Owen Lane, MK Dance Theatre quickly gained recognition for its innovative choreography, unique artistic vision, and commitment to nurturing the next generation of dancers. Owen Lane, an accomplished choreographer and dancer himself, brought a wealth of experience and passion to the company, which resonated with both students and audiences alike. ​
In its early years, MK Dance Theatre has focused on building a strong foundation by collaborating with local dance schools and arts organizations while conducting auditions to select talented students. The company's commitment to excellence and fostering individual growth has attracted a diverse group of dancers, each bringing their own distinct style and technique to the ensemble. ​
Over the years, MK Dance Theatre has worked with over 100 students, providing them with professional training and performance opportunities. The company's specially curated performance programs emphasize technical proficiency, artistic expression, and creative exploration. Students are exposed to a wide range of dance styles, including contemporary, ballet, improvisation, and our signature style neo-classical, allowing them to develop a versatile and well-rounded skill set. ​
MK Dance Theatre's dedication to producing high-quality productions has been reflected in the creation of six full-length productions to date. Each production showcases the artistic vision of the company, featuring original choreography by in-house and external creators. These performances have captivated audiences with their thought-provoking themes, intricate movement vocabulary, and visually stunning designs. ​
In addition to their full-length productions, MK Dance Theatre has also presented numerous shorter works, allowing the dancers to experiment with different styles and choreographic approaches.
